Memories of You

MEMORIES OF YOU

I gave you all a man can ever give:

Desire, love, respect and tender care

In happy hours or in gloomy days

You filled my thoughts with dreams so sweet and rare

I had much faith in life and more in you

For only Love and Hope can beat Despair

With you, and only you, I felt so sure

I could find joy and gladness anywhere

I still remember when I first met you

My lips ran short of words to praise your charm

I knew Fate put you in my stream of life

And kept me tied, but set up no alarm

Many a time I drove my thoughts away

Lest my imaginations bring you harm

I searched my stream of life looking for you

A dream I yearned for at night and daytime

I still remember when your lips met mine

A sense of joy engulfed my racing heart

I saw your happy face and happy eyes

So filled with hope and love and great delight

The waves, with grace, were rushing to the shore

Telling you and me our love was right

Even the sand dunes fondled by the wind

Sent their sincere hopes we shall never part

I still remember when I first asked you:

“Where have you been for years that went before?”

“At school” you said, “too bad for you and me

That your hand did not knock at my own door”

We’re born, we grow, we love and then we die

Dearest hopes met too late will hurt us more

But what could life be with no hopes or dreams?

Hopes and dreams are a must of this World’s core

I still remember when I wiped your tears

Like precious pearls that fell upon my hand

Your tears and anguish, your worries and fears

Are mine, all to resolve and understand

To me, your feelings are like ocean waves

Those have, over the ship of my life, full command

In what divine rhymes can I sing your love?

Carried by winds to every distant strand!
