Ellen is leaving me to Cairo, soon
I feel deserted in mid-summer heat
She was lured by Egyptian dancers there
They show perfection under any beat
I’m left amidst turmoil and hidden threats
Of Terrorist actions spoiling human life
Patients load is decreasing, so my hopes
But with Ellen gone, I’ll face difficult strife
Who’ll download my e-mails and send replies?
Who’ll prepare my monthly reports on time?
Who’ll share my burdens over weekend days?
Who’ll answer my incoming calls with rhyme?
Who’ll print my poems framed in lovely ways?
And add a sense of humor, nice and cute?
Portraying Rugby guinea pig at home
Or scene of spanking Luz fondly, not brute!
With every belly dance I’ll think of her
With every sight of Egypt on TV
With Pyramids, the Nile, the crowded streets
Of Cairo, and the birds flying so free
