I did not say goodbye, but deep within
I was distressed, though smiling, and in pain
It was a moment I have always feared
And hoped never to come, but hoped in vain
Am I unrealistic when in love?
In this life we should learn to lose and gain
But every law has its exceptions too
If one adores, it’s always hard to learn
“Sometimes I wish we never met”, you said
“Because we’re parting”, but I disagree
Can I regret knowing the dashing waves?
The gentle moon, the breeze, flowers, a tree?
Can I regret feeling the charm of life?
In Clouds and rain, sharing your hopes with me?
All those enchanting Elements of Life
Is my delight, because they’re part of thee!
I’ll keep you in my mind and in my heart
A joyful memory through every night
A song that travels with the river flow
Of my life, filling meadows with delight
A blessed encounter that I had in life
Where every bit of it is sweet and right
No man can ever keep your memories
As I do, that much vivid and that bright
I listen to the wind and think of you
I watch the waves and see you rushing close
I always feel your breath in my daydreams
With happiness that excels verse and prose
A cloud of sadness veils my saddened eyes
To know you came not with any of those
Dreams are dreams, facts are facts, alas my love
